Tips to Help Your Workers Comp
Audit Go Smoothly

Just the mention of the word "audit" tends to cause individuals heart rates to increase. If you are contacted to complete a workers comp audit, there is no need to fear. The general purpose of a workers comp audit is to calculate what your actual premium should have been throughout the year, not to find the things you've done wrong. Below are some tips to help decrease the anxiety of the workers comp audit and help you prepare for the audit to ensure it goes off without a hitch.

At a minimum, an auditor will require the following information to complete your audit:

  • All four State of Nevada Employer's Quarterly List of Wages Reports
  • All W-2s and W-3 transmittal
  • List of Officers by name, title, % of ownership & duties.
  • A description of business operations.
  • List of overtime paid per employee per quarter
  • If you hired any subcontractors or casual laborers:

    • All 1099s and 1096 transmittal
    • Certificates of coverage, waivers or an explanation of payment covering the time period the work was performed.

Having all of the above information available for your auditor - or ready to submit to the auditing company - will help the entire audit process go smoothly. If there are any gaps in this information, the length of the audit may be increased and this could also cause the auditor to have to ask additional questions.

We know that completing these audits is not everyone's favorite task, so please let Strategic Premium Resources help make this process as painless as possible.
